Last Call for Wildlife

Cornwall Wildlife Trust's art exhibition fundraiser, entitled 'Inspired and Wild: Celebrating Cornwall's Art and Wildlife', is giving its final call for submissions for artwork. The deadline will be on Friday 21st August, and any artwork selected will tour between four diverse venues around Cornwall, from 1st October until the end of January 2010. This exciting art event promises to be a fantastic way to raise awareness of the Trust's work, as well displaying different interpretations of the wildlife and habitats it protects and conserves in Cornwall.

The Cornwall Wildlife Trust selection panel are encouraging contemporary 2-dimensional artwork in any medium, based on or representing Natural Cornwall and its wildlife, with a particular interest in biodiversity. Any artwork sold will carry a 40% donation to the Trust, so it is an excellent way for artists to become involved in fundraising for the charity. The artwork will be replaced once sold so the exhibition will evolve as it tours, making it different and fresh at each venue.

Serena Pettigrew-Collins, Marketing and Fundraising Co-ordinator at Cornwall Wildlife Trust, says "We have had some great submissions so far, and we are encouraging any body who hasn't sent theirs in yet to do so now! We are very excited to be able to see so much fantastic art from the wide range of artistic talent in Cornwall. This is a great way to get your artwork displayed to the public, whilst also raising important funds for the Trust."

'Inspired and Wild' will launch at Cornwall Wildlife Trust's Head Office at Five Acres in Allet on 1st October, and will then move onto The Cornish Studies Library in Redruth from 19th October. On 30th October the exhibition will be at Lobbs Farm Shop in Heligan, and will host various wildlife and art activities for all ages in the Lost Gardens of Heligan on Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November, including Fox Club's ARTrageous event, a Trust Bat expert to answer all your questions, a talk on winter birds in the Hide, and a Wildlife Photography walk lead by David Chapman. The tour will end at Geevor Tin Mine in Pendeen, exhibiting from 20th November until the end of January, and will tie-in with a show of their Wildlife Photography Competition winners named 'Wildlife on the Edge'.
