another use for Vesta factory?

Having looked at the various articles I do not think that I want to support an illegal action, i.e. occupying the Vesta factory.
Most people now accept that windfarms are only of benefit to three groups of people, viz. the developers, the manufacturers and the landowners. The rest of us lose (and will always lose) as power generated from windfarms costs more, is unreliable and needs back-up from conventional power stations. The way forward has to be solar power or wave/tidal power. Do we therefore have a solution here? I assume that the Vesta workers are experienced production engineers so why not convert the factory into producing other types of more useful equipment, instead of wind turbines.
Incidently, if you look at the web-site of the British Wind Energy Association you will see that there isn't a single windfarm (either existing or in the planning phase) on the Isle of Wight. Isn't this a classic case of NIMBYism?
We have to become green - but not at any cost.
