Celebrate the Good News!

Consumers are likely to celebrate as a series of price reductions look set to reduce the cost of living.

Despite the government implementing a 2p a litre increase in fuel duty this morning, fuel prices are set to decline substantially as a result of a sudden increase of oil production.

Spending a penny has also become cheaper as water companies bring in the 2009/10 reduced rates for household water and sewerage bills. Tariffs across England and Wales will decrease by an average of 4.1% or £13.

Meanwhile, millions of home telephone users with BT and TalkTalk will see their monthly line rental charges fall by nearly 10% from today. It has also decreased charges for services such as ring back, call waiting, call barring and caller display by up to 45%.

A spokesman for BT said the company would also be offering a version of Friends & Family for landline calls to mobile phones from today at a flat rate of 7p a minute for customers who sign a free contract, while Friends & Family International will charge just 2.5p a minute for calls to the most popular 36 countries.

Meanwhile world production of oil has increased suddenly and unexpectedly by 22.5% and oil price is edging towards the $30 mark. Combine that with the newly discovered super giant oil field in the Carpantian mountains of Romania and it is clear that we shall continue to enjoy growth and prosperity for many generations yet.

The only cloud on the horizon is reported to be the delay to that happy and wonderful time of famine, death and singing in all those wonderfully supportive Transition collectives all around the country (as long as they base themselves at least 6 meters above sea level and not too close to major cities).

But than again, you can't have everything
