Summertime and the livin’ is easy
(unless you're already lagging your loft in preparation for winter!)

Though it's summer and everyone's on holiday, basking in the (occasional) good weather, I'm really pleased to see so many stories rolling in from inspiring home-owners across the country who are preparing to save on their winter energy bills. Read stories from other GBR supporters here, including one about 'a castle fit for the queen's garden'!

I'm also very excited to announce our new partnership with the Old Homes SuperHomes network: www.Superhomes.org.uk . It's a network of people whose homes have all been given a full-on energy makeover, slashing their carbon emissions by at least 60%. In September, you can visit a SuperHome and ask the owner all you need to know about making your own home more energy efficient, more comfortable, and lowering your energy bills.

I've also been keeping a close eye on the upcoming legal process around home energy refurb in the UK. I won’t bore you with the detail, but the Government will be introducing the Energy Security and Green Economy Bill later this year. If you check out our blogs you can read about the main housing bit, the Green Deal. It is an exciting prospect that what we’ve been working on may be coming to fruition. I do have concerns though - I'm not sure those in Whitehall really understand what you, the home owner, need to make eco-refurbishment as easy as it should be. Following on the heels of some national public research on the issue (which we’ll be able to tell you more about very soon) we want to know your thoughts about the Government's proposed 'Green Deal'. If you have a few minutes please take our survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GBRsurveyPAYS. We’ll pass on the message on what you really want and need.
