GeoVation 'How can Britain feed itself'

from GeoVation

We are excited to launch our first GeoVation Challenge for 2010-11. 'How
can Britain feed itself' and we thought your organisation may be
interested in finding out more about it.

We are looking for ideas that use geography as an ingredient in helping
people connect to farmers and locally sustainable sources of food. Read
the blog from Sam Henderson, of Agrarian Renaissance, which explains the
thinking behind this challenge.

The challenge will run until 3 September (12 noon), and shortlisted
ideas will be invited to a weekend GeoVation Camp. The aim of the camp
is for teams to develop selected ideas into prototypes of basic working
models of new ventures.

There will be an award for the idea team(s) that makes the best use
of OS OpenData" in their idea too.

GeoVation is all about doing interesting, exciting and worthwhile things
with geography. It aims to help communities address their needs through
the application of geographic data, skills and expertise. GeoVation will
encourage open collaboration in addressing communities? needs where
geography is a key enabler.
