Electric minibus

I was in London at a meeting at the Department for Transport furthering the Cornwall bid to become one of the UK's first 'Plugged In Places' - using central government funding to plan and install a network of charging facilities for a new generation of Electric Vehicles, from motorcycles to cars, vans and minibuses.

A large focus of this bid will be the potential to 'expose' a lot of people to the vehicles via tourism rentals. This will be a 'low risk' way for potential consumers to experience the vehicles and, we hope, be pleasantly surprised! It will also help to enable 'greener' tourism - ideally attracting our visitors to arrive by coach/train/sea and use a vehicle as (a part of) their transport whilst they're here.

To this end we will be aiming to support the installation of recharging facilities at accommodation providers (of all descriptions), and at daytime attractions, in addition to facilities in public car parks and rapid charge stations along trunk roads which support both tourists and residents/business users.

We will be evaluating demonstration vehicles at different times over the next 12 months such as the Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-MiEV. We will welcome opinions from all potential customers and markets.

Apologies for the short notice, but over this weekend we have an 8-seater electric minibus conversion of a Peugeot base vehicle (similar to the most popular accessible taxi in virtually every town) Subject to availability and demand, if you would be interested in seeing the vehicle, please call us on 0845 466 3835.

Similarly, if you are interested in seeing/test-driving future vehicles or providing electric recharging facilities for your guests and/or customers, please email me on matthew@eco-drive.co.uk

Sincerely,

Matt
