Transition News Jun 2010

You are hereby warmly invited to our second Open Day at Cottage Farm on Sunday 6th June 2010 at 2pm for 2:30pm start.

You may have noticed at the website that Cottage Farm have been accepted in a National 'Superhome' scheme (, the first such house in Cornwall and only the second in the whole of the South West. 'Superhomes' are older houses that have achieved a minimum 60% carbon reduction.

Cottage Farm is an organic sustainable transition farm raising native breeds and selling meat boxes locally. It is powered by renewable energy with minimal use of fossil fuels, having reduced its carbon emissions by 70% so far (as assessed by the Cornwall Sustainable Building Trust for Superhomes), but aiming at carbon neutral living and farming. We are of course also engaged in the Transition process.
Visitors will be able to see and ask questions about
· the various practical energy saving steps taken
· the various methods of renewable energy generation employed and its benefits
· the organic farming methods, localised sustainable food production and carbon free deliveries of Cottage Farm fresh meat boxes.
· We may also discuss the Transition Movement and its contribution to increasing local resilience in North Cornwall.
