BigBarn is the Leading local food organisation with a mission to build a, better, Local, Food Industry, as an alternative to the supermarket.

BigBarn has over 6,700 local food producers and small retailers as icons on its local food map accessed by typing in a post code. It also has an Amazon type online MarketPlace where 400+ producers have shops selling over 6,500 products. Like Amazon consumers can buy from as many producers as they want and pay once with a credit card.

BigBarn also supplies its map and MarketPlace to 79+ (and growing) other websites, giving each the opportunity to earn from advertising around the map, and commission on sales through MarketPlace.

BigBarn makes money from offering those on the map a long list of benefits and promotion, in return for a membership fee. And a commission through sales in the MarketPlace.

BigBarn is Community Interest Company to gain the buy-in of stakeholders, crucial in the process of changing people's shopping habits. This means that all profits must be returned to the business and investors.

The UK Food Industry is worth £120b off line and £6b online. As a recent survey showed that 80% of people want to buy local food BigBarn is in a perfect position to take a large share of this trade. This is good for farmers, local communities and the country as local production increases, diet improves, local economies improve and imports are cut.

Anthony Davison, BigBarn founder

Anthony is 49 and a 5th generation farmer and MBA (Warwick). Anthony understands the needs of farmers and the way the food industry works. He has worked tirelessly to get BigBarn where it is today and carefully built the BigBarn brand over the last 10 years. He attributes the success of the business to a strategy of capitalising on BigBarn's first mover advantage without growing too fast, as well as avoiding the Dot Com trend of excessive funding and developing products and services before customers are ready for them.

Anthony has built up a huge network of business contacts crucial for the company’s next rapid growth stage. He is now confident that Big Barn will grow quickly as the website is updated to promote BigBarn throughout the country.
