Organizations & Campaigns

This space is intended as a register for North Cornwall-wide organisations that wish to support the Transition Movement or that may be useful to Transition Groups.

To add your organisation either add in a new 'comment' or use the 'contact' form to send in the information you wish to publish.

Green voice

I've come across a campaigning site that I think would be very useful for transition groups. It's Green voice (www.greenvoice.com) a not for profit social web site. It allows groups and individuals to publicise campaigns that they are involved in, it has everything from the RSPB
underlining the evils of many biofuels to local groups fighting to save a local wood or encourage children to walk to school. You can give an outline of your project which can be 'negative' or 'positive' (I've always thought the polarised view of them being one or the other as simplistic). I have my own campaign - Reducing Paper Use in Publishing on campaigns page 3 - sorry for the plug. You can add information, videos and there is a take action section that outlines what you can do to support the campaigner.

Transition initiatives are conspicuous by their absence from it at the moment which I think is a great pity. I know that certain groups are doing great projects that could be replicated anywhere (e.g getting libraries to hire/loan energy saving equipment to the public) where the scope for expansion is limited because other groups are unaware of
what's happening, plus it lets those not in the transition movement see what we are doing. For the effort needed to set up a campaign the potential returns are very good. The campaigns currently on the site are a very eclectic and inspiring mix, a wide variety of themes and responses to them.

Please give the site a look it's worth it.
