Transition Penwith Information November 2013

FREE Fowey was set up by Fowey Town Forum to fulfil part of the Parish Plan. Their aim is to create community-owned energy for the benefit of the community: all profits come back to the community. They are re-applying for a 50kW Endurance turbine on a 24 metre mast. They have many quiet supporters, but most assume there's no need to act. Meanwhile a huge amount of misinformation has been put out by a local opposition group so it is critical that they get as much support as possible and they could really use your help. Contact Cornwall Council, either online: or by writing to: Mr M Sleeman, Development Officer, Cornwall Council, 39 Penwinnick Road, St Austell, Cornwall PL25 5DR
Their planning application number is PA13/ 06802.

Thursday November 7, 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Dolphin Tavern, Quay Street, Penzance TR18 4BD
The Transition Penwith Monthly Social Gathering takes place on the First Thursday of every Month. So if you'd like to meet up with other local people interested and involved in the Transition Movement or just find out what it's all about then do come along to the Dolphin. If you can't make it this month then maybe we'll see you in December!

Monday November 11, 7:00pm to 9:30pm
Open Shed, Causewayhead, Penzance TR18 2TA
As energy prices go through the roof we all know that we have to use less. But do you have any concept of just how much energy has to go into keeping everyday household appliances running? The Collins family didn't realise that a team of 60 cyclists would be generating the electricity for their house when the BBC invited them to just live like they would on any other Sunday. Could the cyclists pedal fast enough to keep up with their energy demands? Come and watch The Human Power Station with us and find out. We'll also have Community Energy Plus on hand to give advice and information - including details of the Energy Companies Obligation. In addition there'll be practical energy saving tips and a demo from Open Shed.

Rachel Lambert is running various seasonal Wild Food Foraging events through until December 1. Take a look at her website for more details.
