Peace Week - August Newsletter

This November we will be welcoming two major peace activists to the College in the week before Remembrance Day.

Vijay Mehta is the Chair of Uniting for Peace and is known globally for his work on peace and human rights. He will be speaking at the College on 5 November during our short course with Alastair McIntosh on Spiritual Activism

On 6 November, Alastair McIntosh will be previewing the Remembrance Day speech that he will deliver at the Imperial War Museum in London the weekend after his course.

Both talks are open to the public – information will be posted here.

Schumacher Apprenticeship in Sustainable Horticulture
We have just taken on more food-growing land around the College to try out novel growing techniques that allow a deeper connection to the land and the soil.

Six full-time apprenticeships are available from April – October 2014 on a residential basis.

One Year in Transition – a new course from the Transition Network
Isabel Carlisle, who took the Schumacher Certificate in Education for Sustainability course in 2009, is now Education Coordinator at Transition Network. She has designed a new course called One Year in Transition that is recruiting for a new intake this September. The course is a highly enjoyable and supportive programme for young adults who are making a life-changing transition towards living and working sustainably. The framing is low-carbon living and the emphasis is on moving towards self-employment aligned with the wellbeing of ourselves, our communities and the planet. Click here to find out more >>

IFOAM – Organic Leadership Courses
IFOAM have two OLC programs running in South Asia and Europe. The leadership courses are targeted at present and future leaders of the organic movement and guides them through a one year, on the job learning process that empowers them to actively assume greater responsibility in pushing the world towards increased sustainability.
