Week St. Mary Village Web Site

Week St. Mary Village Web Site

Week St. Mary Community web site was launched on 5th December 2005 and has grown in popularity with a strong following from both local residents and those who have moved away. The content includes a vast array of menu topics covering the history of the village and its buildings in addition to up-to-date information on services, functions, newsletters and general events concerning the village.

• Village Calendar • Village Journal • Village Magazine • Local Services • Local Businesses • Village History • Bird-Cam [LIVE] • Picture Gallery • Government • Churches • Clubs & Groups • Accommodation • Local Charities • Organisations • Computers & Tips • Transport • Area Maps • Headstone Inscriptions • Useful Web Links • Women's Institute • Copyright • BBC World News • BBC Cornwall News • BBC Devon News • Local Weather • Contact Us • Privacy & Thanks • About the Website

Details of the headstones, compete with full transcriptions, from the parish church and Methodist cemetery are one of the major successes for many researchers and a link to our web site is provided for visitors to the GENUKI web site.

The web site has over 2,000 images (and it grows monthly!) with black and white images from the 1900s to images from recent events such as the arrival of snow (2009) for the first time for many of our younger residents.

One fascinating aspect of the web site is the 'BirdCam' a LIVE webcam of 2 bird tables situated in the village, that allows users to Pan, Zoom and Tilt the camera - get in very close to the many birds that come regularly for food all year round: species seen include, House Sparrow, Blue Tit, Woodcock, Ring-necked Dove, Squirrel, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Hedge Sparrow, Great Tit, Coal Tit, Marsh Tit, Jay, Blackbird, Robin, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Chaffinch, Goldcrest, Bullfinch, Nuthatch, Siskin, Starling, Magpie, Corn Bunting and a cat!

The web site contains much historical information and is supported by the addition of a recently published book "Week St. Mary Village: a community at large" published by the webmaster of the Week St. Mary Community Web Site. For more information please visit
