Tavistock Peace Action Group

Tavistock Peace Action Group
The Tavistock Peace Action Group is a group of ordinary people committed to working to achieve a peaceful and nuclear free world. It has been in existence for about 30 years and is affiliated with the national Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) and the Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT). The group promotes initiatives for peace including working with Plymouth Nuclear Free Coalition which is campaigning against the nuclear submarine work at Devonport.

What's involved?
The group holds regular monthly meetings (see below) and organises public meetings and/or film showings. Over the years we have undertaken many different activities, including numerous public meetings, an exhibition about the damage caused by nuclear testing in the Pacific, a day conference called "New Notions of Peace," demonstrations and street stalls. We have taken part in many national peace and anti-nuclear campaigns. We held regular street vigils to protest against the invasion of Iraq and hope to arrange a public meeting about the plight of the Palestinians. Our years of anti-nuclear campaigning continue to the present as we publicise the dangers of the proposal to cut up redundant nuclear submarines at Devonport dockyard.

How to get involved?
Tavistock Peace Action Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Friends Meeting House, The Wharf car park, Tavistock. Contact Ginny Davies 01822 615960 for more information or e-mail We welcome all who share our aims and who would like to join us. There is no membership fee but donations are always welcome.
