Training Information at PCDT

L3 Award in Education & Training

Thursdays 15th, 22nd, 29th May & 5th & 12th June 09:30am —4.30pm @ The Centre, Newlyn

This course is being offered by PCDT to be delivered at the Newlyn Trinity Centre on Thursdays from 15th May – 12th June. The L3 Award in Education and Training is an introductory knowledge-based teaching qualification suitable for those who:

• are not in a teaching role

• have just started a teaching role

• want a short qualification

• want a qualification without a minimum teaching practice requirement.

Funding is available for people who work or volunteer within Voluntary Sector organisations or£450 if not eligible.

Outdoor First Aid Training

PCDT has 8 places available for a 2 day course in outdoor first aid at the PCDT offices on the 27th & 28th May @ £105.00 per person for the 2 days.

Volunteer Cornwall are holding training courses during the Easter Holidays for Volunteer Drivers and Volunteer Minibus Drivers from their training centre in Truro (Heron House, Newham Road, Truro).

Free for all volunteer (Minibus) drivers (Funded by Awards for All)

What is Race for Life?

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is a series of 5k or 10k women-only fundraising events, which are raising money for research to help beat all 200 types of cancer sooner.

Ladies. It’s time to show cancer who’s in charge at Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. There are over 200 cancers and we won’t give up until we find cures for them all. It’s fighting talk, and we mean every word we say.

Dates and venues are as followed:

· Falmouth: 18/05/14 at 11am, Gyllyngvase Beach Car Park, Falmouth, TR11 4PA

· Penzance: 28/05/14 at 19:30, Wharfside Car Park, Penzance, TR18 4AA

· Truro: 13/07/14 at 11am, Richard Lander School, Truro, TR3 6LT

Hope in the Heart Survey

Hope in the Heart is a Cornwall based social enterprise who aims to support their users towards improved mental and emotional wellbeing via workshops and courses that inspire them to move forward in the most effective ways.

Their approach is recovery focused, introducing a variety of creative, therapeutic and self-help tools that participants can use throughout their lives. Facilitators possess a wealth of experience in the fields of therapies and personal development as well as in the public and voluntary and community sector.

They are seeking a grant to enable them to offer courses within the public and voluntary and community sectors in Cornwall, and would appreciate your help in completing their questionnaire to show the funders there is a need for this service.

Courses will consist of:

· One-to-one initial interview/assessment of needs and learning styles

· 10 half-day Sessions over 5 weeks in group of no more than 10

· One-to-one follow-up interview/assessment and written report on progress, goals and recommendations one month after end of course

· Participants will develop a portfolio of resources to keep.

Course Aims:

· To build participants’ confidence, self-awareness and awareness of others, emotional resilience and ability to reframe and solve problems in order to live more effectively as engaged and contributing members of their community.

· To provide tools for participants to take away and use to sustain positive change and proactive living.
