23Mar2013: Transition Penwith 2013 Annual Gathering

On 23rd March Transition Penwith will be holding its 2013 Annual Gathering. This is not your usual boring AGM - we are planning a fun and informal event. But what's in it for you? Why would you want to go? Here are some reasons I thought might encourage you:-

To be seen. If you want people to know about you or your initiative/idea one of the best ways is to actually meet people and talk about what you are doing or what you would like to do. There's nothing quite like it, all sorts of unexpected opportunities could present themselves. In the year ahead Transition Penwith will focus on the theme of Co-operation and Community, so it's a great time to get out there and network.

To relax and have some fun. The afternoon will give you a chance to stop for a couple of hours along with other like minded people and celebrate our hard work and achievements. It's really important to make time to do this in our usually busy lives.

To be helpful. Transition Penwith needs your support. If no one turns up, the event won't be much use. The more people the more fun! A small but important element is the election of a new Core Group for 2013 - in addition to the positions of Chair, Secretary and Treasurer we are looking for people to represent the following areas:-
Local food, Renewable Energy, Education, Local authority, Publicity, Web site, Membership, Events programme, Arts, Heart and Soul ... or whatever area you are interested in. The Core Group meet once a month, enthusiasm is more important than experience so please think about putting yourself forward.

So there are three reasons why you might want to come. You'll also be able to find out about Transition Penwith, who is involved and what we are doing. The event will be in St Johns Hall, and we'll set up a space to welcome children with books, drawing and toys borrowed from the Toy Library (although all children will need to be supervised by an adult). Offers of help to set up (arriving at 12 noon) and take down will be very appreciated.

1.00pm - 2.30pm Arrivals and Lunch. Bring savoury food for shared lunch.
SustainabiliTEA Cafe will be serving tea and scrummy cake - by donation.
2.30pm - 3.30pm Officers Reports and Elections
3.30pm - 5.00pm Games, Skills Swap, Open Space

I hope to see you there.

Blessings of Community,

Lesley Bradley-Peer

Chair, Transition Penwith
