7Mar2012: Creating Tomorrow's Low Carbon Technologies

Carbon Matters: Creating Tomorrow's Low Carbon Technologies

A workshop-led event to address the challenges and opportunities presented by the low carbon economy.

Date: Wednesday 7th March 2012
Time: 8:00 to 14:00
Location: University of Exeter, Innovation Centre
Organisers: Research & Knowledge Transfer

Whilst the UK economy may be battling through a double dip recession, the environmental technology sector has emerged as one of the top areas for investment. The Government's target of cutting carbon emissions by 80% by 2050 has brought increasing pressure to find new technologies and innovations to meet this ambitious goal. Chaired by the Environmental Sustainability KTN, and with speakers from the Eden Project and Zero2050, this half day event will bring together industry professionals with academic experts to explore the following:
What are the challenges and opportunities presented by the low carbon economy?
How will changes in environmental regulation and policy affect businesses?
What are the current innovative technologies?
What funding opportunities and support are available?

The event will focus on a series of interactive workshops:
Low carbon manufacturing, led by the South West Manufacturing Advisory Service and the University's Centre for Additive Layer Manufacturing
Low carbon buildings, led by Constructing Excellence South West and the University's Centre for Energy and the Environment
Water management, led by the Waste and Resources Action Programme and the University's Centre for Water Systems
Funding streams and support, led by the Environmental Sustainability KTN and the Enterprise Europe Network
How to consider carbon in your purchasing and supply, led by the University of Exeter Business School and Zero2050.
